This was the second of the two Warp pitches, based on a story by Will Self. The visuals were quite an immediate response to the story, an attempt to make something repetitive and dreamlike from the visual motifs in the story. The drawings were all made on a makeshift monoprinting press on my kitchen table. A couple are shown above, along with two of the final frames from the storyboards.

Stand Up

The first of two pitches I worked on earlier in the summer for Warp Films and BBC2. These visuals were based on a story about a stand up comedian and his alter ego, his other self. I wanted to create one spotlit world occupied by two people, the self and the shadow of the self. A sort of Jungian version of Live at the Apollo.

What a summer!

Firstly, here are some of the projects I have been working on at Viasat over the summer. I also found out that the Screen Rhythm promo I worked on earlier in the year won a gold at Promax in New York (in the editing category).

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich

Always a sucker for a Penguin Classic... I read this on holiday a couple of years ago, but couldn't resist this copy from 1971. Found in the excellent Red Cross bookshop in Palmers Green.

Hyde Park Signage

The signage I've been working on in Hyde Park is now officially open! It is a project by Virginia Nimarkoh to commemorate the site of the Great Exhibition on the south side of the park. Print material to accompany the project (with a map) can be found in the little bowling green hut nearby.

Alice in Wonderland

For some reason I have never read this, although have had this copy for a while. It is in part a confrontation of my 'fear of simplicity'. Explanation needs a long and complicated post involving Yuri Norstein (and probably Freud) which may or may not follow in time, along with some illustrations of the story.
